Crossroad upgrade promised

CAR congestion on Clyde Road in Berwick could be a thing of the past if a Liberal Government is elected later this month.
A $25 million pledge was made on Monday to upgrade the busy thoroughfare from High Street to outside Monash University.
Mick Morland, Liberal candidate for Narre Warren North and current Casey councillor, said the Liberal Party had listened to the concerns of the people of Casey and committed the $25 million.
However, Gembrook MP Tammy Lobato said a VicRoads study had discovered the project would cost $40 million.
“If the Liberals win the Saturday, 25 November election we will totally upgrade the intersection of Clyde Road and Enterprise Avenue, plus have grade separation at the railway crossing and duplicate the road from Monash University to High Street, Berwick,” Cr Morland said.
Ms Lobato said it was easy to make wild promises and believed the $25 million committed by the Liberal Party would not be enough money to complete the proposed upgrade.
