Machete attack leads to surgery

AN ENDEAVOUR Hills man has been attacked with a machete during a violent altercation in Melbourne’s CBD.
The man, aged in his late 20s, was struck twice to the upper body with the weapon when an argument broke out between a group of men about 6.30pm Monday at the corner of Bourke and Swanston streets.
Police said the man received at least one injury to the neck and ran into a nearby store after the incident.
He was then treated by ambulance members and taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital where he underwent surgery.
The Asian Squad has since taken over the police investigation and has urged anyone who may have witnessed the assault to contact police. The man is believed to be in a serious but stable condition.
Police are yet to talk to the man to establish further details of the incident and will continue to investigate the matter.
