CRANBOURNE Bowls Club suffered the disappointment of losing by one shot in a measure to Blackburn in RVBA pennant bowls on Saturday.
Needing two shots to draw on the last end played, Cranbourne skip Brian Gay knew he had one shot, but was unable to move the second shot to win or draw the match.
With the match ended, the measure indicated only one shot to Cranny and the loss of the match.
The match was close throughout, but Cranbourne led for the most part and should have sealed the result, but for lapses after establishing a good break.
The only rink success was the team of L. Quigg with a six-shot win.

Cranbourne (2) continued its good form with a 12-shot overall win from Waverley Golf, winning three rinks in a solid performance.
Good winners were the team of Peter DeLisle with a 10-shot break.

Cranbourne (3) was beaten in a nailbiting finish by Clayton that made the most of its breaks to win by five shots overall.
The rink of Dick St Ruth was the only winner with a 14-shot margin. The team played well to finish strongly.

Cranbourne (4) made it two out of two to remain undefeated, with a 22-shot win over Narre Warren.
Cranbourne lost two rinks, but big wins on the rinks of John MacInnes and Ian Badger ensured victory overall. MacInnes’s team won the weekly club award.

Cranbourne (5) was outbowled at Edithvale when beaten comfortably by 28 shots.
The side lost all four rinks and couldn’t adapt to the Edithvale green.

Cranbourne (6) finished very strongly to overcome a determined Willow Lodge side at Cranbourne.
Cranbourne won the match by 34 shots overall and won all four rinks in a very good performance.
The team of Trevor Robinson again starred with a 17-shot win.

Cranbourne (1) side met a very good Dandenong Club and although it competed well, couldn’t match them and were beaten by 21 shots.

Cranbourne (2) side continued its good form with a 36-shot win over Edithvale.
Cranbourne won all four rinks in an excellent team performance with the team of Kath Dudink dominating for a 21-shot win.
Cranbourne (3) won a cliffhanger against Burden Park by two shots, with both winning a rink each.

Ladies Saturday pennant competition is now underway with Cranbourne winning its second match at Black Rock against Frankston RSL by 19 shots.
