Mixed results for Hampton Park

HAMPTON Park’s Division 4 side had its chances of a second spot on the ladder crushed when Narre Warren soundly beat it on its green by 61 shots.
There was however some consolation as its A2 division seven and SDELBA sides won their games.

The highlight of the week was the excellent performance by the VLBA A2 side when it played Dandenong Rec/ RSL at home.
Consistent high scoring ends by Mary Hose, Joyce Cameron, June Damon and skip Geri Graafsma gave them a 30.5 shot win (43-11.5).
Dot Carr, Gwen Clough, Shirley Burnside and Skip Heather Naismith kept their foot on the accelerator to motor to a 26-shot win (39-13).
Down in the first half, Gail Wilcock, Rhonda Diaper, Ray Wood and skip Grace Hogan conceded only three ends to finish the second half 11 shots up (30-19).
With a loss of only five ends for the day, Mavis Kelly, Ellen Smith, Ann Westwell and skip Chris Hendrie powered away to record a win by 38 shots (45-7).

It was a very close game in the night pennant match against Bentleigh with the last end being the decider.
Bruce Pointon, Andrew Brandolin, Ann Westwell and skip Graham Slight were unable to bridge a five-shot gap (15-20).
In a tight game throughout the night, Ray Wood, Keith Damon, Lance Davis and skip Geoff Ladner missed by one shot (15-16).
Taking an early lead and keeping it all night allowed Ray Leggett, Chris Hendrie, Geoff Ampt and skip Neville Hendrie to win by nine shots (24-15).
Scores: Hampton Park 8-54 d Bentleigh 4-51.

Narre Warren handled the slower green and windy conditions better when it scored a 61-shot win over the visiting Hampton Park side.
Alan Wilcock, Shirley Burnside, Robert Naismith and skip Graham Slight lost 11 to 31.
Heather Naismith, Chris Hendrie, David Hendrie and skip Neville Hendrie lost 19 to 36.
Chas Hose, Fred McBrian, Geoff Ampt and skip Bob Woodfield lost 18-21.
Andrew Brandolin, Robb Woff, Ken Cobden and skip Geoff Ladner lost 12-33.
Scores: Hampton Park 0-60 lost to Narre Warren 18-121.

The faster green and windy conditions suited Hampton Park’s home side when it played host to Berwick.
With both teams on 20-20, it came down to the last end with Vince Kovacic, Greg Pentland, Eddie Graafsma and skip Bob Nicol getting up by one shot (21-20).
Keith McCarthy, Pat Moevasa, Ray Leggett and skip Ray Wood held the lead all day and won by 13 shots (29-16).
A couple of big ends towards the finish gave Gerry Cox, Bill Tannahill, Allan March and skip Keith Damon a win by 10 shots (32-22).
Lino Da Pos, Allan Unwin, George Pettitt and skip Bill Webb played a sure and steady game to win by 14 shots (30-16).
Scores: Hampton Park 18-112 def Berwick 0-74.
