SIX Casey Cannon players have been chosen to represent the Southern Sharks in the Just Hockey Junior State Championships to be held at the State Netball Hockey Centre from 19 to 25 June.
The players are under-15 boys Nicholas Alards and Bryan Young, under-14 boys Scott Cullen and Matthew Light, under-13 boys Craig Moore and under-13 girl Carlie Stewart.
The Southern Southern Shark teams are selected from 11 clubs: Casey, Dandenong, Frankston, Mentone, Mornington-Peninsula, Moorabbin, Sandringham, St Bede’s, Springvale Noble Park, Toorak-East Malvern and Waverley.
The Sharks will compete against four other zone teams, the Red Devils, Western Wildcats, Country Cobras and the Eastern Hotshots at the championships.
As a lead-up to the tournament, the Sharks will put in six weeks intensive training, including a series of practice matches and team-bonding activities.
Since the inception of the Junior State Championships in 1991, the Southern Sharks have been the most successful zone team, winning championships across all grades. The Southern Sharks are the only team to have captured championship pennant in every age group.
