Colourful language sparks blue

A GAME of golf turned into a blue on the green for a Narre Warren man who was punched in the face at a golf club recently.
Police said the unlawful assault occurred at the Beaconhills Country Golf Club between 2.30pm and 3pm on Saturday, 2 September when a group of players was unhappy with the colourful language coming from another group on a separate hole.
A confrontation at the eighth hole resulted in a 24-year-old man suffering cuts to his lip and bumps and bruises to his face.
Golf club manager Danie Myers said the fight was a rare incident at the club. She said the club definitely did not endorse that kind of behaviour.
“In my time here (three years) I have never heard of anything like this happening before,” Ms Myers said. She said those involved were not members of the club and were casual green fee players.
“The matter has been handled by the players and the police, and the club has had nothing to do with it,” she said. Anyone who may have seen the assault is asked to contact Pakenham Police on 5941 1033.
