IT was a good start for Hampton Park Bowls Club with both RVBA teams winning their pennant games in round one on Saturday.

Hampton Park played Mulgrave C.C. at home winning two rinks and losing on two.
Greg Pentland, Basil Pope, Graham Slight and skip Geoff Ladner combined well to win by 19 shots (34-15).
From a slow start to a very strong finish, Fred McBrian, Ken Cobden, Geoff Ampt and skip Bob Woodfield piled on the shots to win by 17 (35-18).
Rink three had Les Unwin, Alan Willcock, Lance Davis and skip Robert Naismith charging at the finish to miss by two shots (26-28).
Winning only nine ends for the day was not the result Chas Hose, Pat Moevasa, David Hendrie and skip Neville Hendrie expected, going down by 15 shots (16-31)
Hampton Park 14-111 d Mulgave CC 4-92 by 19 shots.

Willow Lodge played host to Hampton Park with each club winning 2 rinks.
Bruce Pointon, Lino Da Pos, Bob Nicol and skip Ray Leggett scored the big eight on end 18, finishing the game with a 13 shot win (34-21).
A big game by Gerry Cox, Allan Unwin, Allan March and skip Keith Damon with a 26-shot win gave a mighty boost to the overall score (38-12).
Unable to handle the green, Werner Melzer, Keith McCarthy, Chris Hendrie and skip Rob Woff struggled all day to keep in touch (18-39).
John Scothorne, Rudy Oost, Shirley Burnside and skip Bill Webb put in a good second half to go down by eight shots (16-24).
Hampton Park (2) 14-106 d Willow Lodge 4-96 by 10 shots.

DIVISION A (2)

With seven players interstate and three sick, Hampton Park travelled to Edithvale on 3 October with one player short and under the new 25 per cent rule turned a three-short win into a 3.25 loss.
Rob Woff, Alma Pope and skip Chris Hendrie stayed with the opposition all day and ended up going down by 7.25 after the 25 per cent was taken off (18.25-26).
Leading from start to finish, Jim Westwell, Betty Whalley, Shirley Burnside and ship Heather Naismith powered away to a 26-shot win (38-12).
John Scothorne, Joyce Cameron, Alan Wilcock and skip Mary Hose played well over the concluding ends to go down by only 11 shots (21-32).
The opposition slowly pulled away from Sheila Scothorne, Gail Wilcock, Grace Hogan and skip Ann Westwell to win by 11 shots (20-31).
Hampton Park 0-97.75 lost to Edithvale 2-101 by 3.25 shots.
