AN ENDEAVOUR Hills man has become the first person sentenced under new sexual predator laws.
Richard Gerard Meehan, 55, was sentenced in the Victorian County Court last Friday to two years’ jail, with 21 months fully suspended for two years.
Meehan pleaded guilty to using a carriage service to procure a person under the age of 16 for sexual activity.
The charge forms part of a new Federal law aimed at stopping sexual predators meeting young people through communication services such as the internet and text messages.
