Student leaders get the nod

CLYDE Primary School’s new student leaders were officially recognised last week.
La Trobe MP Jason Wood visited the school on Friday to present the school captains, house captains and student council with their badges.
He also presented the school with a new Australian flag because the old one was worn and battered.
Assistant principal Maurie Richardson said Mr Wood talked about the components of the flag, explaining its history to the students.
Mr Wood said he was very impressed by the Clyde students, who recited both verses of the Australian national anthem with no background music and with some students playing the guitar.
“I spoke to the young people about leaders not only helping their best friend but also complete strangers,” he said.
“I also spoke about how they should become good citizens by helping other people out and the glory of helping those less fortunate. You never know when the tide is going to turn.”
