Animating night at Monash

SHREK, Finding Nemo and Toy Story have been three of the biggest Hollywood movies over the past few years and they all have one thing in common – animation.
Now Casey residents will have the chance to view locally produced animated movies tomorrow (Friday) when a screening of works is presented as part of the 2007 Casey Winter Arts Program.
The special event, organised by Monash University Berwick campus, is a screening of works including 3D animations and short films by past and present students of the Multimedia course.
The screening starts at 8pm and will run for about one hour at the university’s state-of-the-art theatre. Entry is free and bookings are not required.
Casey manager of arts and leisure Robyn Bowen said the exhibit was the first of its kind for the Winter Arts Program series.
“The free event will showcase the work of up-and-coming multimedia artists and should make for an exciting and different night out for anyone interested in animation and art,” she said.
Deputy head of the Berwick School of Information Technology Lindsay Smith said multimedia was an exciting and ever-changing field.
“Come along and see the amazing things our students have done, ranging from educational games, short films, animations and 3D modelling. Our students push the envelope of technical creativity further every year with the quality of their productions,” he said.
“We’d love to see as many members of the Casey community as possible at this event – I think you will be very surprised at what you see and won’t leave disappointed.”
The event is on Friday, 20 July, 8pm to 9pm at the Theatre G121, Building 903, Monash University, Berwick Campus, Clyde Road, Berwick. The event is free to enter and there is also free parking.
