Rotary goes round the grounds for charity

THE Rotary Clubs of Narre Warren and Endeavour Hills staged a highly successful annual Mayoral Shield Charity Golf Day at Berwick Montuna Golf Club last week.
The event, supported by the City of Casey and local businesses, raised more than $15,000 for local charities.
Golf day organiser and Rotarian Roger McGill said the event was a great success and he extended the clubs’ appreciation for the strong support from players, sponsors and management at the golf club.
Casey mayor of the day Colin Butler said the event continues to grow in popularity each year.
“The morning drizzle and threatening grey clouds did not dampen the day which was full of fun and a fantastic fund-raiser for the community,” he said.
About 200 players competed for the coveted mens’ and ladies’ titles, with prizes awarded for a hole-in-one and closest to the pin.
The Mayoral Shield was won by the Westpac Bank team led by Narre Warren Rotary Club president Ken Larkin and the Ladies Shield was won by the Blue Ribbon Cleaning Services team called Brian’s Babes.
