THE CASEY Scorpions Football Club will play for the Peet Cup when it meets the Werribee Tigers at Werribee Oval on Saturday, 2 June.
Both Victorian Football League clubs are sponsored by real estate developer Peet Limited and decided to further strengthen ties by playing for a cup in the latter’s name.
The round-eight match will also be televised throughout the state on ABC television and the winning team will receive a custom-built trophy.
Scorpions’ general manager Brian Woodman declined to reveal the monetary compensation the club is receiving from Peet, but said it was in the thousands.
“It is our second year with (Peet) and have a strong relationship with them,” he said.
“It is certainly a great opportunity given it has ABC exposure.”
