Bowlers fire for Narre Warren

NARRE Warren’s turf-one bowlers took control to protect a first-innings total of 255 and dismiss St Mary’s for 159 on Saturday.
Narre Warren started the second day by taking the opportunity and bowling well picking up the first wicket after a partnership of 45.
Best of the bowlers were John Simpson 4/43, Chris Jarrett 3/37, Chris Pentland 2/37 and Steve Woodward 1/20.

Sandown Park resumed at 1/23 in reply to Narre Warren’s 138 and started badly with a wicket in the third over of the day.
Pressure was put on the incoming batsman and scoring was slow until a further breakthrough was achieved at 3/55.
A turning point in the game happened when a dropped catch behind the wicket proved to be costly as the batsman went on to make 76.
Steady wickets fell for Sandown Park to be 6/126 at tea.
A wicket second ball after tea gave Narre Warren hope, yet it was not to be as Sandown Park was finally all out for 167.
Welburn finished with four wickets and Caarels snared two with the other wickets shared.

Playing Lyndale at home Lyndale batted first making 181cc with the best of the bowlers Mick Van Dam 3/46 and Rob Brew 2/16.
Narre batted well and was able to finish with 7/215 with Craig Mentiplay making 58, Mick Vandam 32, John Easton 28 and Dave Orchard 27.
Narre won on first Innings.

Playing Southern Pirates away, Narre Warren lost the toss and was sent in to field.
The opposition got off to a good start, but the Narre bowlers struck with the score at 53 and had it 3/54 with the bowlers and fielders putting a stop to the runs and bowling the Pirates out for 134 in the 25th over.
Narre started its innings and lost early wickets to be 4/38 in the 13th over.
Narre recovered to be 5/103 with brilliant batting by Frank Welburn 53 not out and Peter Van Dam 25.
Narre went on to win the game with three overs to spare and four wickets.

Narre Warren played Endeavour Hills with Narre winning the toss and electing to bowl.
A great bowling performance by Matt Brew 4/5 and Trent Anderson 2/9 saw Narre bowl out Endeavour Hills for 17 in its first innings.
Narre then batted and made 4/176 declared with Mark Blanco making 53 not out in a powerful batting display.
Ryan Misquith made 48 and Tom Connell 18.
Narre had Endeavour Hills in trouble early and continued to put pressure on the bats by some great fielding.
Narre bowled Endeavour Hills out in its second innings for 65 with Chris Blanco taking 2/9 and Trent Anderson 3/10 to get an outright win.

In reply to St Mary’s 83, Narre Warren batted well finishing with 3/174.
Best of the batsmen were Lashlan Jayasuriya and Dylan Quirk who both retired with 26.
Running between wickets was excellent. It has been a great start to the season with the whole team showing vast improvement in all areas.

In reply to Keysborough 152, Narre Warren got off to a bad start being 4/8.
After 10 overs the next three batsmen started to get on top of the opposition bowlers. Brett Healey 21, Matt Retallick 10 and Kris Merz 17.
Narre was eventually all out for 83, losing by 69 runs.

Playing Maranatha and making 118 the previous week, Narre went about the task of winning the game, showing what teamwork and encouraging each other can achieve with everyone contributing well.
Maranatha at close of play was 9/74 with Daniel Druch picking up 2/6 and giving the boys a great win.

Playing Berwick, Narre Warren was defending 167.
Berwick started well, then Narre’s bowlers took over and Berwick was all out for 93.
Best of the bowlers was Nicholas Abeysekera 5/6, Zach Allen 4/5, Michael Healey 3/3.

Played Fountain gate away, it won the toss and elected to bat first.
The Narre boys did extremely well in the field taking 15 wickets with Fountain Gate making 81 from 22 overs.
Travis Johnston took 3/4 off two overs and a couple of run-outs. Paul Moreland 2/4 off two overs and also kept very well. Nathan Sirikuma 3/6 from 2 overs.
Narre then batted and did brilliantly, making 104.
Dhakshitha Gamawalawwe made 18, Michael Thompson 15 and Jaidyn Bosman 10. A great team effort.
