Brad boosts Cranny in thriller

A MATCH-winning 68 not-out by Cranbourne turf-one’s Brad Angus helped his team to down Keysborough by four runs in the last over on Saturday.
Cranbourne won the toss and put Keysborough into bat, hoping to spark a form reversal.
Led by veteran Matthew Moore the Cranbourne attack bowled tightly to restrict the opposing team to 2/76 at the drinks break.
However a good partnership took Keysborough into a strong position until off-spinner Steve Miller took 3/29 off seven overs to turn the tide.
In reply Cranbourne lost steady wickets until opener Brad Angus and ’keeper Steve Hall got together and put on 58 for the fourth wicket with Steve falling for an energetic 39.
With 10 overs to go Cranbourne needed 60 runs to win and with opening batsman Angus still had the upper hand, but it was Dan Hunt and Rodger Alister who put on partnerships of 34 and 25 with Brad to get the team over the line in the last over.
After a season of bad luck Brad Angus came to the fore when it mattered, carrying his bat for a hard-fought and match-winning 68 not-out.

Facing its first test of the season Cranbourne played ladder leaders Keysborough.
Cranbourne got off to a great start with opener Jimmy Alister (29) and Dean McDonnell (30) putting on 64 for the first wicket.
For the rest of the inning Cranbourne got starts, but nobody else went on with it, with the pick of the rest being captain Dieter Leinmueller with 20.
With the ball, Cranbourne got off to a great start leaving Keysborough 2/2 after two overs.
After the initial setback, Keysborough upped the run rate and was ahead of the required rate throughout, even though wickets fell regularly.
Cam Kelly and Andrew Toan both took two wickets, but this was not enough as Keysborough won with three overs to spare.
Scores: Cranbourne 164 lost to Keysborough 7/168.

Cranbourne was put in a strong position early by spearhead Shaun Petrie who again made in-roads claiming two early wickets and when the pressure created a run-out chance which was coolly executed, Cranbourne had Hallam 3/25.
After the early breakthroughs, the game did not all go Cranbourne’s way and only good fielding and controlled bowling kept the score under wraps.
Cam Mills claimed two wickets, while opener Jesse Fitzgerald claimed two at the end, but the star was Shaun Petrie with 3/23 off his eight overs.
Cranbourne lost an early wicket, but was never troubled afterward with Mark Andolfatto dominating the game as soon as he arrived at the crease, scoring 55 in a brutal display.
Captain Al Courtney blasted 43 before retiring hurt with a long list of complaints, while Dustin Peebles put the finishing touches on the win, scoring 47 not-out.
Scores: Cranbourne 3/157 defeated Hallam 8/143.

Cranbourne struck early, but the game slipped away until Troy Kimball took two wickets in the space of six balls to reduce HSD to 4/92 at the drinks break.
After the break, Cranbourne struggled for wickets with the only other multiple wicket taker being Shane Krings with 2/30.
In reply Cranbourne reached 3/80 with Ben Ferrari making 23 and captain Chris George, 38.
A collapse saw Cranbourne lose three quick wickets to be 6/106.
Ryan Jones came in and reached the boundary a few times on his way to 27 valuable runs.
After Ryan was out, Cranbourne needed 45 off six overs.
In this pressured situation Dan Baker thrived, putting on 25 with Shane Krings and then 15 in 13 balls for the last wicket with Troy Kimball to win the game for Cranbourne and finish with 27 not-out.
Cranbourne 9/192 defeated HSD 8/191.

Cranbourne opener Glen Dickinson got Cranbourne off to a good start making 34 quick runs.
At 3/87 and with only 15 overs to go, the game could have swung either way, but then Matty Weller and Dave Dinger got together to put on 93 runs for the fourth wicket until the latter was dismissed for a captain’s knock of 54.
Soon after Matty was dismissed for a very classy 67.
In reply Cranbourne got off to the best start possible, thanks to opening bowler Ben Redgen who inside the first four overs of the game had the stunning figures of 4/9 off his first two overs.
From there the result was a formality with Matty Weller completing a fine allround game, taking 3/9 while Cam Dinger also took two wickets.

Cranbourne made a slow start, losing regular wickets along the way.
Hayden Cains top scored with 35, while Dale Walker (15 not-out) and Brad Oulton (13 not-out) put some respectability into the score.
Defending a small total Jordan Leinmueller was once again the pick of the bowlers, taking 2/22 off his eight overs, although that was not enough to stop Doveton passing the score with seven overs to spare.

After a decent opening stand, Cranbourne took wickets at very steady intervals with seven different bowlers taking a wicket.
Captain Martin Hameeteman led the way with 3/11 off four overs while Shane Hookey also took 2/18 to bowl Narre North all out for 93.
In what turned out to be an ill-considered move, Cranbourne up ended their batting line up and lost five quick wickets that gave away all the momentum gained by their good bowling.
Martin Hameeteman top scored with 22, while toward the end Andrew Ciantar provided some resistance with 18.
Scores: Cranbourne 82 lost to Narre North 93.

@BT Sub Sport News:ONE-DAYERS

Cranbourne bowled first and really held the opposition in check for the whole innings.
Opening bowler Matty Weir took two wickets in his second spell, while Richard Young and Craig Lambden, both in their first game back for a while, took two wickets each. Cranbourne got off to a bad start, losing three wickets before the fourth over was finished but then Ash Ryan batted well for 48 and Steve Krings continued his great run of form, making 40 not-out to steer the side to victory.
