Family tree just a click away

CASEY library users can now attempt to trace back several generations of their family history with a new ancestry computer program.
About 40 people attended the launch of Ancestry.com – a program that contains the births, deaths and marriage records of more than five billion people.
All branches of the Casey-Cardinia Library Corporation have subscribed to the program with more than 60 computers now having access.
Heather Arnold, Casey-Cardinia Library Corporation local history officer, said the official launch was very successful.
“It all went really well. The program is very user friendly and doesn’t take long to learn,” Ms Arnold said.
People can also upload their own family tree details on to Ancestry.com and share it with other users over the internet.
“It can be used whenever the library is open. People only have to be a member.”
Ms Arnold said the Narre Warren and District Family History Group also offered assistance to interested users throughout the launch.
