How the teams rated

Berwick
Finished: First (runners-up)
Highlights: Carried the confidence of its first pennant in a decade last year to dominate the home-and-away season in finishing 16 points clear on top of the ladder. Ash Henry made a sensational return to his former club to finish second in the competition in wickets with 41.
Lowlights: The crushing nine-run loss to Springvale South in the Turf One decider that ruined an almost perfect season.
All-stars: Ash Henry, Alecs Roberts, Will Carr.

Narre Warren
Finished: Fifth
Highlights: Won its first two battles of 2006-07 and then recorded four wins and a draw from the final six matches of the season to just miss out on making the Turf One finals for the first time.
Lowlights: The horror batting stretch that saw it bowled out below 100 in three straight innings and saw its early season momentum well and truly halted.
All-stars: Wendell Perumal, Chris Pentland, Chris Jarrett.

Cranbourne
Finished: Ninth
Highlights: Rounds seven to nine, where its strong batting won it two matches and would have given it a good chance at a third had rain not intervened. Improved from 11th in 2005-06.
Lowlights: Failed to win two matches on the trot for the entire season and rarely looked like even threatening for a spot in the top four.
All-stars: Daniel Diwell, Shane Murdoch, Steven Hall.

Doveton
Finished: Tenth
Highlights: After an awful start to the season, a three-match winning streak levelled its ledger to have the Doves dreaming of finals halfway through 2006-07. Played the spoiler in round 10 by upsetting Parkfield, which proved to be the end to its opponent’s finals aspirations.
Lowlights: Lost its first three contests and won just one game after round six as what was shaping as a good season fell away drastically.
All-stars: Ryan Hendy, Brad Downe, Nathan Wilson.

@BT Sub Sport News:TURF TWO

Hallam Kalora Park
Finished: Second (runners-up)
Highlights: Its batting was spectacular and the team managed 279 or better on nine occasions during the season. Hallam Kalora Park smacked 4/559 in round 11, which was paced by a magnificent 228 from captain Cory Booth.
Lowlights: Its batting failed to fire at the right time and they accumulated just 205 and 238 in the semi-finals and grand final respectively. The loss to Coomoora in the latter means it will have to endure another season in Turf Two.
All-stars: Cory Booth, Steven Chapman, Mark Houeix.

Fountain Gate
Finished: Third (semi-finalist)
Highlights: Entered the Christmas break as nothing more than an also-ran before logging four straight wins in 2007 and a tight loss to Coomoora in the final round to finish third.
Lowlights: After building up such strong momentum heading into the finals, it suffered a 72-run thrashing at the hands of Hallam Kalora Park in the semi-finals to end its season.
All-stars: Scott Mather, Nick Scanlon, Brad Francis.

HSD
Finished: Fourth (semi-finalist)
Highlights: Lost just one game between round four and round eight to energise its season before winning the final two games of the home-and-away season to claim a finals spot. The round 11 victory over Maranatha Methodist saw it take its opponent’s place in the top four.
Lowlights: Lost four of its first five encounters and spent the rest of the season chasing the competition. Regressed from last season where it finished on top after 11 rounds.
All-stars: Michael Davies, Paul Stockdale, Ben Doran.

Maranatha Methodist
Finished: Fifth
Highlights: Jumped out of the blocks magnificently to win the opening three matches of the season and repeated the dose between rounds six and eight.
Lowlights: Lost its last three clashes of the season, including a woeful defeat to North Dandenong, to relinquish what appeared to be a certain finals appearance.
All-stars: Warren Dickson, Andrew Cooper, Jeff Thom.

Hampton Park
Finished: Tenth
Highlights: Made a stunning start to the season to win in each of the first two rounds after being promoted from Turf Three. James van Elewoud was incredible and capped his season with an unbeaten 157 against Doveton North in round 11.
Lowlights: Won just one game after round two and even managed to lose the unlosable to the previously winless Doveton North in the last round.
All-stars: James van Elewoud, Chris Bateman, Daniel Redfern.

Doveton North
Finished: Twelfth
Highlights: Easy. Round 11, where it managed to clock up 354 as it finally recorded its first triumph of 2006-07.
Lowlights: Lost the first 10 contests of the season, but the biggest struggle came before it all started. It watched as local cricketers flocked to neighbour clubs Doveton and Endeavour Hills, which gave it little chance of being competitive.
All-stars: Alan Campbell, Robert Forgiarini, Adam O’Donnell.
