A dine time for Probus

THE City of Casey’s Probus Clubs recently came together for a combined clubs luncheon at Berwick’s Clover Cottage.
One hundred and twelve members and friends from the Narre Warren, Berwick Central, Berwick ladies’, Berwick men’s and Cranbourne clubs enjoyed the pleasant outing together which was hosted by the Narre Warren club.
During the meal, entertainment was provided by Folk Singers Lorraine Hollow and Garry Simmons who are members of the Narre Warren club.
Sandra Grove, past president of the Combined Probus Club of Narre Warren, said it was hoped that the luncheon would continue as an annual event in order to get local Probus members together to share in friendship and fellowship, which is the main aim of Probus clubs.
Probus clubs are an initiative of Rotary International and provide retired members of the community the opportunity to meet together for social activities, to make new friends and to stimulate the mind with excellent guest speakers and informative activities.
In addition to monthly meetings and group outings, clubs have special interest groups such as walking, golf, cinema, dineouts, morning coffee, art appreciation and mahjong. Overnight trips to places of interest are also arranged for members.
There are eight clubs within the City of Casey with a membership well in excess of 600 members.
Both men and women are catered for in mixed, men’s or ladies’ clubs and new members are most welcome.
Although some clubs in the area have reached their maximum and have a waiting list, others have vacancies.
For further information about Probus clubs call John on 8790 5824 or Sandra on 9704 8341.
