College chaplaincy gains funds

BERWICK Secondary College will be given a grant of $5000 to go towards its school chaplaincy program.
Casey Council last week decided to award half of the funds from its $10,000 Chaplaincy Grants Program to the Berwick school.
Councillor Wayne Smith said the money was just a small way of council helping out.
Cr Smith said there had been a chaplaincy program when he had attended Dandenong High School and it had been invaluable.
“He was non-judgemental about race and religion,” he said.
Cr Smith said Berwick Secondary College should be congratulated on its commitment to conduct the program and he said it was disappointing that other local schools, such as Cranbourne Secondary College, had dropped the program purely based on a lack of funding.
