TWENTY-four teachers at Oatlands Primary School pulled up a little sore on Monday after pounding the pavement for charity at the weekend.
On Sunday, teachers at the Narre Warren school took part in the inaugural Herald Sun CityLink Run for the Kids to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
Sport teacher Geraldine Gamble said both herself and fellow colleagues had either run or walked the 14.7- or 4.5-kilometre tracks and they had already set their sights on signing up for next year’s event.
Ms Gamble said the run had been a great social event for all teachers and they were pleased to have helped raise money for such a worthwhile cause.
“A number of staff have already said that they want to do it again next year.
“Some of our students also ran with their parents and families,” she said.
The teachers had special T-shirts made for the event and Ms Gamble said they had raised $400 for the cause.
“The event helped make people aware about fitness and everyone got involved, even though people were of all different fitness levels,” she said.
A special Monday morning announcement alerted students to their teachers’ achievement and Ms Gamble said many of the children were impressed by their efforts.
