STARLIGHT Children’s Foundation officials are calling on Casey residents to rent a new release DVD this month and help contribute towards helping young ones in hospital.
For the 14th consecutive year, the Australian Video Industry and the Starlight Children’s Foundation have joined forces for Starlight Video Month.
The charity hopes to raise more than $300,000 to make sure Captain Starlight can visit as many hospitalised children as possible in the Starlight Express Van.
“During the month of October please support the local video stores in your area by renting a new release DVD marked with the Starlight Video Month logo,” Anne Johnston, head of marketing at Starlight Children’s Foundation, said.
“When a child stays in hospital they are often in pain and isolated from their friends and family.
“Captain Starlight provides these children with much needed fun and laughter during this difficult time. This is why the funds from this promotion are crucial to help Starlight provide positive distraction to seriously ill and hospitalised children both in this region and across Australia,” Ms Johnston said.
Local participating stores include Blockbuster Cranbourne, Civic Video Berwick South, Civic Video Hampton Park Square, Video Ezy Beaconsfield, Video Ezy Berwick (Timbarra), Video Ezy Narre Warren North, Video Ezy Amberley Park and Video Ezy Narre Warren South.
An official said the Express Van program was a key part of Starlight’s activities for children in hospital, bringing the magic of Captain Starlight to sick children living in metropolitan, regional and remote areas which don’t have access to a Starlight Express Room..
Starlight’s goal is to give each and every one of these children the opportunity to access and benefit from its innovative programs, which are designed to be an integral part of the total health care of children.
