HUNDREDS of mourners turned out on Sunday to farewell slain Narre Warren doctor Khulod Maarouf.
Family, friends and members of the Arabic and medical community turned out to pay their respects to the dedicated general practitioner.
One of the 51-year-old’s three daughters, Naawar Hassan, paid a moving tribute to her mother, who was fatally stabbed while working at a Noble Park medical clinic more than a week ago.
The Dandenong District Division of General Practice has also expressed its sadness at the loss of a member.
On its website the division posted a statement that described Ms Maarouf as an extremely caring and dedicated GP.
The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, along with the Australian Medical Association, has established the Dr Khulod Maarouf Fund to support her husband Ayman Hassan and his three children, aged 21, 14, and 13.
Anyone wanting to make a donation to the fund can go to the website www.racgp.org.au.
Samuel Benjamin, a 26-year-old from Springvale, has since been charged with Dr Maarouf’s murder.
He was to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 12 September for a committal mention.
