A change of key for Kerrigan

By Callan Date
ONE of Berwick’s most talented performers is hitting all the right notes as he advances his wide-ranging artistic career.
Kerrigan La-Brooy is most known for his musical talents but the adventurous 32-year-old is branching out from his comfort zone to tackle other creative projects.
Acting, song writing and publishing also make up part of Kerrigan’s repertoire.
“I’ve got a new album coming out soon. But I have also branched out into publishing and I’m currently writing a children’s book,” Kerrigan said.
The professional musician said music is his number one passion but he always had a desire to communicate his ideas through a book.
“I’m working with an illustrator from Canada and we hope to have the book out sometime in the middle of the year.
“We have a contract with a publisher and it will be available over the Internet and at bookshops,” he said.
He said the book focuses on a healthy lifestyle for children and is based upon correct eating habits for the younger generation.
While that book will be available worldwide, local fans will get a glimpse of Kerrigan when he takes part in Casey Idol.
Kerrigan has been asked to judge the talent quest that will involve local youth showing off their talents.
“I’m really looking forward to that. It will be great to see some of the local talent from the City of Casey,” he said.
Heats for the event took place last week and Kerrigan will cast his eye over the finalists during the Casey Idol final on 2 June at Arthur Wren Hall in Hampton Park.
But the musical performances are his number one love and a recent world tour was a major success, he said.
“I have just recorded a song produced by a member of Sherbet and it is being really well received by the public.
“Music is my profession and it is something I really love doing,” he said.
