A FIVE-WICKET haul by Narre Warren turf one side’s Chris Pentland wasn’t enough to save it from a comprehensive defeat at the hands of Dandenong West in a low-scoring game at the weekend.
Narre Warren was bowled out for 91 with John Simpson top scoring with 21, before its opponents made 129, highlighted by figures of 5/38 from Narre Warren’s Chris Pentland.

Wickets continued to fall after tea for Narre Warren to be all out for 198. Best of the batting was Martin Green (61), Paul Milo (43) and Dean Martin (36). Narre had 11 overs to bowl with Hallam KP finishing at 0/22.

Playing Buckley Ridges, Narre Warren won the toss and elected to bat with three unders 13s and two under 15s in the side. Narre Warren got off to a slow start, but had two good partnerships with Steven Kidd 50 not out and James van Dam 38 not out. At compulsory closure the score was 5/120.
Buckley Ridges in reply lost a wicket in the first over and then the next partnership put on 60 runs. After this the wickets fell steadily reaching the target runs at 7/127. It was excellent bowling by Steven Kidd 3/12, James van Dam 1/12 and under-13 player Jarryd Straker 1/9.

In the first game after the Christmas break, Narre Warren 68 was defeated by St. Mary’s 9/109. Playing one man short, Narre had a tough task, but to its credit played hard all game. Glenn Wilson 2/27 and 42 with the bat was the pick of the players, supported well with the ball by Anthony Folino 2/35 and Jake McKenzie 2/18.
