Hair-raising event

A NARRE Warren park will resemble a hair dressing salon this Saturday as 12 people lose their locks or add a colour for charity.
Team Mofo is made up of family and friends who are taking part in the Leukaemia Foundation World’s Greatest Shave event.
Team organiser Lana Kerr is calling on the local community to attend the event and enjoy the day with the group.
Local entertainers have supported the team’s effort by donating their time throughout the day and Hallam Poultry and Meats will make sure everyone is fed by supplying meat for a barbecue.
Ms Kerr said Team Mofo originally started with only her husband setting out to shave his head.
“My uncle suffered from leukaemia. He is OK now but we thought it would be a good way to raise some money,” Ms Kerr said.
“It was a spur of the moment thing but it has turned into a really big event.”
Bodywave Bellydance, Sugar and Spice and Red the Clown will be just a few of the acts entertaining the crowd from 2 to 4pm.
“Originally we wanted to raise $2000 when it was only going to be a couple of us taking part. I don’t know what to really expect. I have been surprised by the support from everyone. The performers have been great in donating their time,” she said.
The Leukaemia Foundation World’s Greatest Shave event helps fund cutting edge research into better treatments and cures through its research programs.
About 100,000 people across Australia are expected to shave or colour their hair this weekend.
