CASEY council is offering services to help Casey’s aged and disabled residents enhance the safety of their homes.
The council’s Home Maintenance Service offers practical assistance including home safety checks, minor repairs, replacing light globes and tap washers, fitting hand rails, replacing flywire screens, pruning shrubs and trees, moving heavy furniture and other general home maintenance tasks.
The Home Maintenance service is aimed at assisting older residents and people with a disability to live in their own homes.
Casey’s manager of aged and disability services, Rob Crispin, said it was especially useful for those that may be at risk of premature or inappropriate admission into longterm residential care.
“The Home Maintenance Service is designed to assist the frail, aged or those with a disability to continue to live independently within their own community by maintaining an environmentally safe home,” he said.
“Some of these tasks, although perhaps relatively simple, could be beyond the abilities of someone elderly or disabled.
“We hope this service will also enable these residents to be able to stay in their home longer.”
A small fee usually applies for the service, as well as the full cost of any materials used.
To be considered for this service, phone 9705 5200 to arrange an assessment by council’s aged and disability assessment team.
