Man slashed in tent attack

By Callan Date
AN Endeavour Hills man had a New Year’s Eve to forget after he was slashed with a knife during a fight in Rosebud.
Ryan Craig had his back and neck slashed during the attack while he was holidaying with friends at the popular tourist spot on the Mornington Peninsula.
Police said the incident occurred at about 3am on 1 January when a man was allegedly caught stealing an esky from Mr Craig’s Rye foreshore campsite.
The 25-year-old is currently recovering in the Dandenong Hospital, where he was due to undergo microsurgery this week.
Rosebud Detective Senior Constable Peter Butland said they had spoken with a 35-year-old Rosebud man regarding the incident and would continue to investigate.
“It looks like a struggle has developed and the victim was slashed with a knife,” Det Sen Cons Butland said.
He said police were yet to interview Mr Craig and were also hoping to speak to any other witnesses of the attack.
