Murder charge

A WOMAN charged with murdering her de facto husband has declined to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
Richele Edwards was absent from the hearing last Monday.
She was remanded in custody to appear in court on 10 July.
Homicide Squad detectives charged the 35-year-old Berwick woman with murder following the stabbing death on Saturday.
The incident occurred about 11.30pm at a Florence Avenue house.
Police said the 44-year-old man died at the scene.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Gerard Clanchy of the homicide squad said it appeared that the man had been stabbed once in the chest with a kitchen knife.
Police said an infant girl was home during the incident.
Act Det Sen Sgt Clanchy said the incident was still under investigation and police were still trying to determine who had alerted police and telephoned 000.
