Narre sets a tough chase

NARRE Warren’s Turf Three bats have given top team Silverton a tough 247 run chase after a solid performance on Saturday.
Playing Silverton away, winning the toss and electing to bat, we made a solid start against the top team to be 1/43 off 20 overs at drinks, followed by 3/117 at tea with Nathan King batting well for 24.
After tea, Mark Jensen-Schmidt 54 and Dwayne Hughes 41 built a solid platform before Ben Charles 34, Bryce Millar 29 not-out and Chris Edwards 17 took Narre to a defendable total.

Playing Southern Pirates away losing the toss Narre Warren was sent in to field and dismissed the opposition for 128 off 31 overs.
Pick of the bowlers was Matt Clarke (4/27 off eight overs).
The runs came quite easy with Narre Warren passing the score in the 19th over only four wickets down.
Clark and Daniel Orchard combined for an 82-run partnership.
A top effort in Clark who was dismissed for 33 and 54 for Orchard to give Narre Warren just their second win for the season.

Playing the top team North Dandenong, Narre Warren put on a respectable score of 8/116 off 21 overs.
However North Dandenong passed Narre comfortably, finishing 3/142.
Jordon Bulner made 34, Braden King 19 not out and Jack Spreckley 2/14.

Playing Cranbourne in a big match to consolidate its spot in the four, Narre Warren stood and delivered a resounding win.
Bowling first, Narre Warren restricted Cranbourne to 90 from 21 overs with all bowlers going well and the fielding tight.
Narre Warren started well with the bat with a 44-run opening stand, Laurent Campbell 21 and Luke Clarke 26. Nick Shirt 29 kept the score ticking over with Lowindu Dharmaratne 22 not out to finish at 113 with a good win.

Playing Lyndale away, the opposition got off to a good start and it looked as if Narre Warren would be chasing a big score, but through some good bowling and fielding Lyndale was restricted to 9/95 off the 20 overs.
Narre Warren passed the opposition in the 17th over finishing at 6/107 in a good team effort.

Narre Warren played Cranbourne, won the toss and electing to bat first.
After 20 overs it was 2/62 with Lachlan Shaw 17, Paul Moreland 13 and Zach Allen 21 not out.
Cranbourne after 20 overs made 115. Best of the bowlers was Jaie Roberts 1/4 and Allen 2/10.

Playing Springvale South away and being sent in to field first Narre Warren bowled and fielded well with a couple of great catches taken to restrict the opposition to 85 from its 20 overs.
Best of the bowlers were Mitchell Healey (0/5 off 2 overs), Tom Dovaston (1/6 off two overs) and Ryan Quirk (1/7 off two overs).
Narre Warren then batted making 119.
Best of the bats were Viran Wanigasundara top scoring with 27, Tom Spreckley smashing a quick 12 not-out and Aaron Concalves seven not-out.

Playing Dandenong North, Narre Warren made 6/78.
Best of the bats were Ricky Jones 21 and Luke Artner 14.
Dandenong North made 9/51 in its innings. Best of the bowlers were Hayden Stagg 2/3 and Luke Atner 2/1.

This week’s game was against Lynbrook.
Captain for the week, Demitha Ranashinge won the toss and elected to bat first and a solid performance set a competitive total that could have been higher except for a number of run-outs.
In the field, the bowlers played well and were supported by the fielders with excellent saves, some great run-outs and an excellent diving catch by Dylan Alexander. Best players: Vihan Liyanage, Rudith Pussalle and Swetha Ranashinge.

Playing the Under-11 Blacks at home, best of the bats were Jevon Fernando (14 not-out), Maheesha Gamage (11), Matt Stephens (five) and George Jayawardena (five). Outstanding in the field were Jevon Fernando (1/7), Kevin Collins (1/4 caught and bowled), George Jayawardena (1/6).
