Praise for lack of grass negligence

CASEY sporting clubs have been praised on their positive approach to the training restrictions placed on ovals and reserves over summer.
Club representatives met Casey Council officials recently to discuss the minimal use of sporting grounds in the municipality because of the drought.
A variety of information was presented to the clubs, all designed to help make the situation as easy as possible for players and officials.
Casey manager of arts and leisure Robyn Bowen said council and clubs would continue to work together to ensure that all grounds remained in the best possible condition for summer and winter sports.
“Council officers will continue to work closely with clubs during the water restrictions to ensure that all possible measures are undertaken to minimise any negative impacts on sporting clubs,” Ms Bowen said.
Local football clubs have been notified that pre-season training should not be conducted on sporting ovals until 1 February, 2007.
Cricket clubs have been able to continue their season uninterrupted – with council conducting regular checks to ensure surfaces are safe for players.
For more information on the restrictions contact James Rouse at Casey on 9705 5200.
