STARTING Prep can be a daunting time but last Thursday students at Southern Cross Primary School eased into the school experience.
The school’s new preps enjoyed a fun afternoon of craft enjoying foam finger painting, playdough and collage in the school’s art room.
Current Grade five students from the Endeavour Hills school were also chosen as buddies for the prep students and offered support and friendship.
The new students also enjoyed story time and parents were welcomed to the school and provided with a lovely morning tea and information session with the school’s principal Averil Moore.
Ms Moore said the “Smart Start” induction program allowed students to discover and explore their new school in a safe and caring manner.
“The children get to know their teachers and other students in the school and begin to develop confidence with their new school environment.
“Our Smart Start program is an extremely important part of the smooth transition into school that these children can expect.
“An enjoyable session was had by all and we look forward to further sessions over the weeks ahead,” she said
