CASEY residents have been urged to open up their pockets and front doors this weekend as the annual Red Shield Appeal gets underway.
Craig Exon, of the Berwick Salvation Army Church, said they had been inundated with offers of support with many schools and community groups set to take to the streets with their red cans in hand.
The Red Shield Appeal kicks off on Saturday and runs until Sunday, 4 June, and Mr Exon said they were hoping to raise close to $30,000 through both door knocking and tin rattling.
Mr Exon said collection points would also be set up at Fountain Gate Shopping Centre and tin rattlers would also set up posts at local intersections.
He urged residents to give generously as many people depended on the success of The Red Shield Appeal as more than 1.5 million Australians were helped by The Salvation Army last year.
