Stars to shine in charity hit

CRICKET legends are set to battle it out on the pitch at the Mayoral Charity Celebrity Cricket Match this Sunday.
Former Australian Test captain and current Casey-South Melbourne president Graham Yallop, AFL and VFL football champions and local community leaders will join in the competition to help raise money for Casey’s CFA brigades.
Casey mayor Colin Butler, who is captaining one of the teams, said he was looking forward to playing the Twenty20 cricket match while raising money for a worthy cause.
“Not only do our volunteer firefighters make an outstanding contribution to the local community, but many have worked tirelessly throughout the summer to help combat fires throughout Victoria,” Cr Butler said.
“Attending this cricket match is one way the community can show their appreciation of our CFA volunteers,” he said.
The event will include a sausage sizzle and raffle.
Cr Butler will take on a rival team led by deputy mayor Kevin Bradford.
Players at the match will include VFL football team Casey Scorpions players, AFL football players and cricketers from Premier cricket team Casey-South Melbourne Cricket Club.
Narre Warren coach Austinn Jones and St Kilda forward Stephen Milne have confirmed they will play.
Mark Dinnie will represent Star News Group.
The match will start at 5pm on Sunday at Strathaird Reserve off Community Parade, Narre Warren South.
