SALLY Blackwell is raising the bar when it comes to helping women try pole dancing as an enjoyable and safe activity.
And Doveton will soon become the new home of her budding Spiralz Pole Works business with a six-pole studio opening on Monday week.
The Cranbourne North resident has had to relocate from her original two-pole studio at the back of her house due to an increased demand in women wanting to learn the popular activity.
“Women all around the world are now turning to the art of pole as a legitimate form of exercise,” Ms Blackwell said.
The mother of three said pole dancing had moved out of the seedy shadow of men’s entertainment and into a legitimate form of exercise and self-expression for women from a range of backgrounds.
“They are finding it is an excellent tool for increasing their own self-confidence, fitness, strength and agility as well as being in a network of women who have become their own community,” she said.
Spiralz offers a ladies only environment and there is no nudity involved.
“These days pole dancing has got nothing to do with gentlemen’s clubs.”
Ms Blackwell said classes were conducted in a safe and fun environment that enabled ladies to get together and have a good laugh while they take part in some exercise.
Women can have individual lessons or take part in the fun as a group with hens parties, girls nights and corporate functions all available.
“Everything we do at Spiralz is centred around empowering women and celebrating the magnificent bodies we have, whatever shape, size or background we come from,” she said.
An eight-week term costs $198 or a single session is $30.
The new studio will open on 15 January at 90 Doveton Avenue, Doveton.
