Callout for volunteers

By Rebecca Fraser
KALIMNA Community Support Options in Narre Warren is on the hunt for new volunteers.
Volunteer coordinator Di Kelly said becoming a volunteer was fulfilling, challenging and exciting and offered people the chance to do something different and give back to their community.
Ms Kelly said Kalimna was a community support service that worked alongside adults with disabilities providing support to enhance their aspirations and dreams.
She said they were currently looking for volunteers to join their dedicated team of staff and all volunteers would be provided with full training and ongoing support.
“The volunteers get a lot of satisfaction from helping people,” Ms Kelly said.
“Our whole philosophy here is for people with disabilities to be able to access the community and go out and socialise.
“Because of this our volunteers also build social networks and get to meet with other parts of the community.”
No experience is necessary to become a Kalimna volunteer. However a six month commitment and police check are required.
For further details contact Di Kelly on 9705 9111.
