Narre’s winning ways

By Marc McGowan
NARRE Warren remains undefeated through two rounds, after a five-wicket triumph over winless Parkfield in turf-one action at Sweeney Reserve on Saturday.
Resuming at 0/14, after bowling Parkfield out for 191 the previous weekend, Narre Warren openers Dimitri Dimakopoulos (58 runs) and Dwayne Thomson (25) contributed a steady 66-run partnership to put the Magpies in control.
Several other players made a start, and despite remaining in control, Narre Warren slipped to 5/152, before man-of-the-moment Vinay Tripathi (3/71) guided his team to the victory target with an unbeaten 32.
Shane Doig, backing up from his team-high score of 42, was the pick of the bowlers with 3/64.

@BT Sub Sport News:Berwick v Cranbourne

BERWICK has flexed its significant muscles by smashing Cranbourne by six wickets in their round-two turf-one clash at Casey Fields.
Gavan Wills was the batting star with an unbeaten 61, which was supported by the irrepressible Ash Henry (36 not out), who took his season batting average to 149.
While the Berwick batsmen handled most of the Cranbourne bowlers with ease, Jonathan West was impressive all day and snared 3/19 off 14 overs.
Berwick now sits on top of the ladder, after easily accounting for Buckley Ridges in the opening round.

@BT Sub Sport News:Doveton v North Dandenong

DOVETON has slumped to its second loss in as many matches, after succumbing to North Dandenong by five wickets in their turf-one contest at Lois Twohig Reserve.
Doveton managed a measly 120, which was routinely overtaken by unbeaten North Dandenong.
Robert McDonald’s 42 styled the run-chase, while Glen Pepper (40) provided some lusty hitting once the total had been reached.
Nathan Wilson led Doveton’s defence with the stellar figures of 4/46, but it was to no avail.

@BT Sub Sport News:Hallam-Kalora Park v North Dandenong

Rain has prevented a result in the Hallam-Kalora–North Dandenong round-two turf-two contest, with the teams having to settle for a draw.
Hallam-Kalora Park set an imposing target for North Dandenong the previous weekend as it racked up 9/301 off its 80 overs.
The game finally resumed on Saturday afternoon, but it was too late to force a result and North Dandenong struggled to 3/72 in reply off 37 painstaking overs.
Michael Quieros did his best for Hallam-Kalora Park and snared 2/18 from his five-over spell.

@BT Sub Sport News:Hampton Park v Lyndale

HAMPTON Park was forced to settle for first-innings points against Lyndale, despite dominating the teams’ round-two turf-two match at Barry Powell Reserve.
Lyndale’s first-innings effort produced a pitiful 84, which Hampton Park managed to overtake on the first day of the game.
Amazingly, however, just two Hampton Park batsmen made double figures – captain Clinton Gilpin (68 not out) and James van Elewoud (65) – as Lyndale opening bowler Rodney Keyaerts (8/69) wreaked havoc.
Lyndale’s second dig was more successful and they held Hampton Park at bay, cruising to 4/116 behind captain David McCarthy’s 61 not-out.

@BT Sub Sport News:Maranatha Methodist v St Brigid’s/St Louis

MARANATHA Methodist has taken first innings points over St Brigid’s/St Louis in its round-two turf-two battle at Strathaird Reserve.
The Maranatha Methodist batsmen strolled past the St Brigid’s/St Louis first-innings total, but lost its last five wickets for just 25 runs.
The collapse left it with little chance of outright points and St Brigid’s/St Louis’s batsmen shut the door and finished on 5/136 the second-time around.

@BT Sub Sport News:Doveton North v Berwick

DOVETON North has been embarrassed by Berwick in its round-two turf-one encounter at Arch Brown Reserve, losing by 142 runs.
After the first day was washed out, the game became a one-day shootout, but Doveton North fired blanks from the start, as Berwick pummelled its opponents into submission.
Berwick opening batsman Bradley Molineux spanked an undefeated 109 to lead his team to a mammoth 230 off its allocated 40 overs.
In reply, Doveton North was never in the hunt and was bowled out for 89 in an uninspired 29 overs, as Michael Dalzotto reaped the rewards with 5/17.

@BT Sub Sport News:Narre North v Springvale

NARRE North has obliterated its Springvale opponents by eight wickets in its round-two turf-four one-day clash at Power Reserve.
The previous weekend was a wash-out, and Narre North dominated the re-start by knocking the Springvale batsmen over for 115, in an even bowling performance.
Narre North had no such worries and led by a swashbuckling 72 not out by Peter Hunter, it rollicked past the total in just 23 overs.

@BT Sub Sport News:Fountain Gate v HSD

The round-two turf-two match at Max Pawsey Reserve was classified as a wash out, after umpires adjudicated that the pitch was too damp to play on at the weekend, following last week’s similarly poor weather.
