Records for little athletes

NARRE Warren little athletes competed in the Dandenong Little Athletics Championships on the weekend in very warm and at times trying conditions with some outstanding results.
Many athletes achieved personal bests with two girls breaking club and centre records in the final week of club competition.
Under-11 girl Sarah Burren was in excellent form on Saturday when she broke the club and centre record with a time of 8:13.23 in the 1500-metre walk.
Sarah shaved 1.02 seconds off the previous record held by her older sister Amy in 2005.
Under-14 girl Stef Fenton broke her own club record for the third time this season in the discus with a mammoth throw of 30.29 metres.
Stef added a further 2.62 metres to her previous record throw that she achieved in November last year.
Under-10 boy Ethan Cornford, who travelled to Albury for the recent State Multi Championships, returned with a bronze medal.
Ethan also won bronze in the event last year.
The club wished success to the following athletes at the State Track and Field Championships in Bendigo this weekend: Chris, Maddi and Stef Fenton, Ethan Cornford, Katelyn Cox, Sarah and Amy Burren and Ashley Albert.
Club members are reminded that the annual general meeting and trophy presentations will be held at the clubrooms, Max Pawsey Reserve, Fountain Drive, Narre Warren on Thursday, 20 March at 5.30pm.
All club members are invited to attend.
