Simpson’s ton crushes premiers

NARRE Warren’s turf-one batsman John Simpson with 105 not-out combined well with Shean Vanderwert 90 to down last season’s premiers Springvale South at the weekend.
On day one Narre Warren went to Harold Rd and restricted Springvale South to 203.
Narre Warren’s John and Shane Simpson opened the bowling and did a great job restricting the powerful Bloods batting line up.
The competition’s leading wicket taker, Dave Wheeler came on with Chris Jarrett and were also very effective.
The four of them, along with twirler Dwayne Scott, did a magnificent job. John Simpson finished with two wickets, Jarrett three, Wheeler three and Scott one.
Narre had to bat for six overs and lost opener Mark Jensen-Schmidt.
The loss left it 1/14 at stumps.
Resuming the second day’s play Narre Warren went on to pass Soringvale South’s score and finish 5/256.

Narre Warren playing Doveton last week was all out for 115 with Jarrod Leeworthy 60. Doveton then made 146 with Dwayne Hughes (3/18) and Ben Charles (3/32).
Doveton won on first innings.
In the second inning Narre Warren tried to build a total and bowl Doveton North out for a second time.
Martin Green made 51, Nathan King 49 and Ben Charles 44 getting Narre Warren to a total of 8/205, having a lead of 174.
The opposition started chasing the score, but after losing a couple of early wickets, shut up shop and finished 3/126 off 35 overs.

@BT Sub Sport News:A GRADE

After being 1/59 at stumps last week, Narre Warren continued the run chase against Buckley Ridges, but was unable to get the required 200 runs to win.
It was a day for the juniors who stood up to the challenge with the top two scorers being Matt Clarke (39) and Ben Carter (41) both from the under 15s.
Narre Warren fell 19 runs short.

Narre Warren began its run chase of 178 by Endeavour Hills last week.
Endeavour Hills bowled brilliantly to contain Narre Warren’s openers at 0/53 off 15 overs.
Losing Jarrod Straker in the 16th over ending an opening partnership of 53, Narre Warren continued to have some good partnerships to reach 6/1148 after 40 overs, with the following batsmen scoring Jack Spreckley (35), Braden King (31), Jordan Muzzolini (19) and Kris Merz (11).
Despite this, Narre Warren fell seven runs short with Endeavour Hills bowling brilliantly all day allowing only 14 extras for Narre Warren’s innings.

Narre Warren played Maranatha Methodist on Sunday and managed to reach 107 from its 20 overs with Laurent Campbell making 26, Nick Shirt 32 not out and Jamayne VanCulenburg 22 not out.
Later in the field, Narre Warren looked a bit flat with Maranatha being the better side on the day overtaking Narre Warren’s total in the 19th over.

After making 182 the previous week, Narre Warren had Berwick in trouble early at 2/5 off four overs.
Despite six dropped catches, Narre Warren bowled well to restrict Berwick to 102 from its 40 overs.
Best of the bowlers was Travis Johnston (2/5 off four overs), Mitchell Healey (0/3 off four overs) and Rhys Dempster (1/7 off two overs).

@BT Sub Sport News:UNDER 11 BLACK

The Blacks played Hampton Park away.
In a high-scoring match Narre Warren won the toss and batted first and after its 24 overs made 129.
There were many great batting performances with Nathan DeSilva top scoring with 31, Travis Healey 20 and Hamish West hit a big six in his 18.
Hampton Park batted and after its 24 overs had amassed 168, but Narre Warren did well with only 10 in the field.
Best of the bowlers were Joshua West (2/4 from two overs) and also a great one-handed catch when wicket keeping. Cameron Marshall made 1/19 off three overs and Cameron Fernando 0/8.

@BT Sub Sport News:UNDER 11 WHITE

Narre Warren travelled to HSD, lost the toss and sent into field.
HSD reached 100 in its allotted overs with Maheesha Gamage (3/6) Nathan Berry (2/4), George Jayawardena (2/3) and Jevon Fernando (2/0) as well as a catch.
The team fielded well and kept the overthrows under control.
Narre Warren then batted making 115 with Fernando (19), Will Van Der Ark (10) that included a massive six and Lachlan Berry 12.

Narre Warren played Maranatha Methodist and captain for the week, Chris Bell-Janke won the toss and elected to bowl.
Narre Wartren bowled well, but was let down in the field with a number of misfields and over-throws.
The team more than made up for its fielding effort when it came into bat. Every batting pair batted in partnerships, and set an extremely high standard with their running between wickets.
In an excellent effort the team finished with 194, its highest score for the year.
