CASEY Council will consider buying linemarking machines that could be hired out to local sporting clubs.
Mayor Kevin Bradford said the initiative would benefit many committees of management and sporting clubs throughout Casey.
At last Tuesday’s council meeting he moved that council officers investigate and report back to a March council meeting on buying appropriate linemarking machines, suitable for lawn ovals, with the view to making them available for use by committees of management.
The report would also include all indicative costs and managementcontrol issues.
Cr Bradford said the initiative would benefit all sports from Little Athletics to cricket, football, rugby and soccer.
He said if the council went ahead with the initiative it was likely that sporting clubs would be able to book in and hire the line markers and supply their own paint.
He said clear line markings were important to many games and formed an important part of occupational health and safety practice.
