Hampton Park electric in win

PLAYING in its first game in the Electric Light competition, Hampton Park had a great result with an overall win of 40 shots.
South Oakleigh Bowls club played Hampton Park on its home green, Keysborough, in excellent conditions, which allowed a variety of great shots being played by both sides.
On rink five, Ray Leggett, Enid Gibb, Geoff Ampt and skip Neville Hendrie conceded three shots in the first 14 ends to set up a 15-shot win, 25-10.
The scores were level after 13 ends but Andrew Brandolin, Ann Westwell, Eddie Gibb and skip Graham Slight pulled away to finish up 22-15.
Jim Westwell, Lance Davis, Christine Hendrie and skip Geoff Ladner scored a couple of fives early, allowing them to register an 18-shot win, 31-13.

DIVISION 4 SECTION 6

Monbulk journeyed to Hampton Park and handled the conditions well, stretching the home side to the limit.
Pat Moevasa, Lance Davis, Geoff Ampt and skip Bob Woodfield trailed all day and it was not until they scored a six that they hit the front to win 33-27.
It was shaping up to be a disastrous day for Sean McDonald, Bernie Bruggeman, Larry Simpson and skip Neville Hendrie when they were 12 shots behind at the halfway mark. A late fightback saw them go down by just five shots, 25-20.
After the break, Les Unwin, Ken Cobden, Zak Storm and stand-in skip Robert Naismith slowly pulled away from their opponents to win by 12 shots, 36-24.
The only difference between these two teams was that Vince Kovacic, Jeff Crozier, Lionel Williams and skip Geoff Ladner scored more shots per winning end, 26-18.

Only one rink was won by the Parkers when they played at Keysborough.
Ray Wood, Robert Meany, Mark Paton and skip Alan Wilcock were outplayed on the day, going down 33-16.
Losing the last four ends saw Ray Leggett, Greg Pentland, Andrew Brandolin and skip Fred McBrian give up their slim lead, beaten 21-17.
Wally Waterman, Allan Unwin, Keith Damon and skip Robert Nicol hung on to their lead to win by three shots, 25-22.
To win eight ends for the day and only go down by a shot was a great effort by Jos Van Hout, Paul Barna, Allan March and skip Rob Woff, 21-20.
Score: Keysborough 16/97 d Hampton Park 2/78.

This event was won by Murrumbeena with the runner-up from Ferntree Gully.
The Ladies once again put on an excellent meal with presidents Rob Woff and Grace Hogan pleased with the way the event was run.
