International flavour

CASEY’S international students have scooped a swag of scholarships at the Chisholm Institute of TAFE.
Recipients of the International Student Scholarships presented on Monday night in Dandenong represent the nations of Mauritius, Sri Lanka, India, Fiji, Indonesia, Burma and the UK.
The students will receive up to 50 per cent discount on their course fees. The aim of the scholarship is to provide relief for many of the TAFE institute’s international students who have independently funded their study to Australia.
Recipients included Endeavour Hills resident Bobby Mayeputh from Mauritius who is studying a diploma of hospitality management.
Bobby said his goal was to develop stronger ties between Australia and Mauritius and that one day he wants to own a guesthouse and tour company for keen travellers.
“In Mauritius, the main economy is tourism and based on that, I have chosen to make my career,” he said. “I don’t think Australians are aware of how beautiful Mauritius is.”
“It’s a very beautiful place and I’d like to promote it and provide everything to travellers like food, accommodation, travel arrangements and tour guides.”
Bobby thanked Chisholm for the scholarship, the institute’s International Department, his teachers, parents, friends, and all those involved with the selection process.
