Long summer continues

CASEY residents can hold on to summer a little bit longer following news that the Doveton Pool in the Park will remain open an extra two weeks.
The pool’s season has been extended due to the Commonwealth Games and consequent changes in the school holidays that mean the term one break runs from 11 to 26 March. During the extended season the pool will only open on days 23 degrees and above.
The decision to extend the pool’s season was approved at last Tuesday’s council meeting when the pool’s operator, the YMCA, was given a two-week extension in its contract.
The Doveton pool is undergoing a $650,000 facelift that will include relocating picnic tables and the barbecue area and ramp access to intermediate pool.
