A BERWICK man was yesterday (Wednesday) charged with the murder of his wife after she was found dead at a house in Somerville on Monday.
Police said the 43-year-old woman was stabbed several times while at the house, near Frankston, in the early afternoon.
Her husband, 44, was also found at the scene in a critical condition, suffering from what police said were self-inflicted stab wounds.
He has since been charged with one count of murder after homicide detectives interviewed him in Frankston Hospital.
He was expected to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court yesterday afternoon.
According to police, the couple had been separated for about six weeks with the man leaving the Berwick family house to live with his parents in Somerville.
In a cruel twist, the man’s parents both suffered heart attacks after they discovered their daughter-in-law was dead.
Both were taken to hospital in a non-life-threatening condition.
The couple’s four children, aged from eight to 21, were elsewhere when the incident occurred.
