North wind blows for Casey duo

CASEY councillors Mick Morland and Ben Clissold have both nominated for Liberal Party preselection for the seat of Narre Warren North.
It is also rumoured that former Casey councillor Michael Shepardson will seek preselection for the State seat of Narre Warren South.
This week Mr Shepardson said he could neither confirm nor deny his stance or comment on any matter involving preselection as it was against the Liberal constitution.
But Cr Morland confirmed that both he and Cr Clissold were seeking preselection in the Narre Warren North seat currently held by Labor’s Luke Donnellan.
“I represent Narre Warren North and know the electorate well in my capacity as a councillor since 1990.
“This is the next step in the ladder for me and has been a level I have always desired to go to.
“This is just the first step of about four or five though.
“First I need to see if I win preselection and then if I am a candidate it is 12 months of hard work before standing in the state elections,” he said.
Cr Clissold said he was unable to comment on the situation as it was against the Liberal Party’s constitution.
