One giant stroll in the park

YOUNGSTERS from across the City of Casey took centre stage last week during an array of different activities that were conducted as part of Children’s Week.
Casey Council teamed up with Westfield Fountain Gate Shopping Centre to deliver a range of fun activities events from Monday 22 October to Friday 26 October, as well as assisting families with information on council services available for children.
Children’s Week is an annual worldwide event that celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood.
Dads and their children had a barrel of fun at the Bring your Dad out to Play event held at the Cranbourne Library.
PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360 were just two of the many activities on offer as well as eating free pizza.
At Doveton’s Myuna Farm, the City of Casey partnered with the City of Greater Dandenong and Tartunganyin Bopopo, for a project called Hand in Hand – Celebrating Children and Aboriginal Culture.
Families enjoyed a variety of entertainment, stalls, activities and the famous farm animals as well as learning about Aboriginal culture and tradition.
On Sunday, 28 October mums gathered at Wilson Botanic Park to take part in the World’s Greatest Pram Stroll.
The event, run in partnership with the City of Casey, Mothers of Casey Alliance (MOCA) and YMCA, featured face painting, live music, show bags, information stalls and a sausage sizzle as well as a group stroll around the lake for parents, bubs and families.
Casey manager of children’s services Colette McMahon said: “Children’s Week in Casey was a wonderful success with many families enjoying the free entertainment and activities on offer.
“We celebrated the importance of children enjoying their childhood as well as recognising the talents, skills and abilities of children,” she said.
