Quigg set for bowls glory

CRANBOURNE Bowls Club champion Lyn Quigg has won his way into the South East Group Champion of Champions final to be played at Clayton Bowls Club next Sunday.
Lyn won his three knockout matches at Pakenham on Sunday against club champions from the group to qualify for the final.
In the first match he played Pakenham champion Arthur Giocotta and after an excellent match Quigg prevailed 25-18.
Both produced brilliant bowling and their heads were obviously tighter than the other matches over the green.
Quigg played the Willow Lodge champion D. Lawrence in his second match and proved too strong for his inexperienced but talented opponent and won 25-16.
In his third match he played Berwick Champion Alan Thompson and after a competitive match drew away to win comfortably 25-13.
His draw bowling over the day was of a high standard and his shot play excellent and will hold him in good stead in the final.

@BT Sub Sport News:PENNANT QUARTER FINAL

Cranbourne (5) was drawn against Eastwood Golf at the Burden Park green in ideal conditions.
The Cranbourne side began reasonably well and was two shots up after 20 ends, but two rinks were troubled by their opponents and need to lift.
The rink of skip Rob Sorensen, Rob Lillis, Frank Hopper and John Bibby were focussed and playing well. Bibby was leading superbly, Hopper drawing bowls where required and Lillis playing the power game with strong driving.
The rink of Ian Badger was playing a courageous game and continued to fight back when looking beaten.
Cranbourne went to the break nine shots down with the two rinks needing a lift.
After the break Cranbourne came out firing to draw within three shots, but unfortunately couldn’t maintain it and after 75 ends and 19 shots down, looked a beaten side.
The rinks of John MacInnes and Matt Boltong produced some great shots, but the Eastwood Golf bowlers were able to convert shots at will to thwart them.
Eastwood Golf ran out winners by 15 shots overall and was a little too talented for a disappointed Cranbourne side.
However the Cranbourne side had a great season to top their section.
Scores: Cranbourne 83, Eastwood Golf 98.
R. Sorensen 27-13, I. Badger 22-25, M. Boltong 18-26, J. MacInnes 16-34.
