SOS for volunteers

THE Narre Warren SES is on the lookout for new volunteers to help boost its day crew.
SES media liaison officer Kanny Lee said if people were over the age of 18 and had a desire to assist those within the community, then they could be a potential volunteer member.
“We are looking for shift workers, parents with school age children, retirees and unemployed people to become members for our day crew,” she said.
The day crew covers 5am to 7pm.
Ms Lee said that because the SES was a volunteer emergency service, a great deal of importance was placed on training to be ready for any type of emergency.
This included storm damage, search and rescue, assisting police, ambulance and fire service, she said.
The Narre Warren SES conducts training nights on Wednesdays from 7pm to 10pm.
As well as weekly training nights, there is also additional external training such as first aid, chainsaw licences etc.
Ms Lee said the Narre Warren SES would be conducting a tin shake in Cranbourne this weekend at the corner of High Street and Sladen Street.
She said the funds will help the branch purchase more equipment.
People interested in becoming SES volunteers can email: narrewarren@-ses.vic.gov.au, making sure to leave your contact phone number and address.
Or apply online at the SES Victoria website.
