LOCAL bands are preparing to slug it out live at the 2006 Push Start Battle of the Bands in Cranbourne.
Presented by the City of Casey’s FReeZA youth committee, Spectrum Entertainment, the event promises to be a thrilling night as local bands compete live for great prizes and a chance to go through to the regional final.
Casey manager of youth and community development, Janette Green, has encouraged the city’s young people to come along to the heats and support their favourite bands.
“The Battle of the Bands gives local bands an opportunity to play live in front of hundreds of people.
“The events are organised by young people for young people and they are a great experience to be part of,” she said.
Spectrum Committee member Sam Porters said there was a lot of raw talent in Casey waiting to be discovered. “This year’s Battle of the Bands is a chance for local bands with members aged 14-21 to battle it out for a place in the Push Start regional final,” he said.
The events start at 6pm and finish at 11pm, are fully supervised drug-free, alcohol-free and smoke-free nights for young people aged 13 and over.
The cost is $8 or $6 with a discount pass, which are available from City of Casey Youth Services or by calling 9705 5200.
Heat one will be held tomorrow at Cranbourne Public Hall and heat two will be on Friday, 16 June at the Narre Community Learning Centre.
