Car thieves strike in Narre Warren

THIEVES stole three cars within four days from Narre Warren last week.
A $50,000 Ford station wagon was stolen from a Langbourne Drive driveway last Friday, only minutes after the owner had parked the car and entered her house. The second vehicle, a red 1993 Ford Falcon worth $3500, was stolen from the Casey Central Shopping Centre car park last Wednesday.
Police found the vehicle burned out later that day in Wedgewood Road in Hallam.
The third car was stolen on Saturday night from the Fountain Gate Shopping Centre top level car park near the Village Cinemas.
Police said the maroon Toyota Land Cruiser, worth $28,000, was taken between 8pm and 11.45pm.
Police said it was rare for two cars valued at over $20,000 to be stolen within a few days.
“A lot of the more expensive cars now have very good security systems so they don’t get targeted as much,” Sen Sgt Wilcox said.
