Casey’s young artists impress

VISUAL art, multimedia and writing produced by young residents were celebrated at the annual Casey Creations Creative Arts Competition Award Presentations, at the Cranbourne Community Theatre early this month.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford presented prizes to the competition winners and congratulated all entrants for contributing their unique artworks.
“Our municipality is so often impressed by the achievements of our young people across so many fields, with displays of initiative, originality and innovative thinking.”
The winning entries will be displayed at the Hampton Park and Cranbourne youth information centres and on the council’s website.
Cr Bradford thanked a number of local organisations and businesses for sponsoring the event, including the Cranbourne Lions Club, Angus and Robertson Bookstore , Artistcare , Artists’ Framing Services Berwick, Berwick Artists Society and Country Women’s Association.
The winners:
Creative Writing: Grades 5- 6: Kylie Iva, Berwick, 1; Merit: Carina Bailey, Narre Warren and Meagan Harris, Beaconsfield. Yrs 7-8: Madeleine C. Slaughter, Drouin, 1; Merit: Amaya Hettige, Berwick. Encouragement: Chloe Nixon, Berwick. Yrs 9-10: Mikala Knight, Narre Warren, 1; Merit: Donna Blackman, Cranbourne; Encouragement: Donna Blackman, Cranbourne. Yrs 11-12: Karlea Blackman, Cranbourne, 1. Merit: Sam Tucker, Narre Warren. Encouragement: Courtney James, Berwick Springs, and Karlea Blackman, Cranbourne. Age 18-25: Danae McGuinness, Cranbourne, 1. Merit: Hailey Wilson, Kooweerup, and Danae McGuinness, Cranbourne.
Visual Arts: Grades 5-6:Joshua McComb, Narre Warren South, 1. Merit: Adrian Pascua, Narre Warren South. Encouragement: Talie Collins, Narre Warren.

“Casey Creations is part of National Youth Week, which celebrates and recognises the value of all young Australians to their communities. At Casey, we aim for this to happen all year, not just for this week.
“Once again, the Casey Creations Creative Arts Competition was inundated with entries demonstrating the diverse creative talents of the younger members of our community,” Cr Bradford said.
