Christmas bonus in harness

CRANBOURNE Harness Racing Club is offering a Christmas bonus for trainers at its 20 December meeting.
Thanks to the support of Farmhand Cranbourne, the club will present a $200 gift voucher to each winning trainer on the eight-race program.
Cranbourne Harness Racing Club chief executive Jacquie Richardson said it introduced a similar initiative last year that was very well received.
“We hope it will encourage trainers to race at Cranbourne, but we also want to give a little something back to industry participants,” she said.
“Feed in particular is very expensive at present and I’m confident the voucher will be warmly welcomed by all winners,” she said, adding that the club was indebted to Farmhand for its generous sponsorship.
In other news, the Cranbourne club has also joined forces with the Victorian Trainers’ and Drivers’ Association (VTDA) to offer a bonus for the three-year-old event at its 20 December meeting.
The bonus will take the form of a $200 cash incentive for the winning trainer and driver, provided he or she is a financial member of the VTDA.
It has been funded jointly by the association and the Cranbourne club.
Cranbourne’s pre-Christmas meeting will feature heats of the Ultrasigns Pace for C1 class performers, leading into a $6000 final at the same venue on 28 December.
Nominations for the 20 December program close with Harness Racing Victoria at noon today, Thursday, 14 December.
